The VIPA Loss of Licence Policy
Your VIPA representatives have negotiated a very competitive Loss of Licence insurance policy for our members. The policy is underwritten by Lloyds of London, and according to their representative it is one of the best Loss of Licence policies available to pilots, anywhere in the world.

How the VIPA Loss of Licence policy works
New VIPA Members
When you join VIPA, you are automatically covered by the VIPA Loss of Licence insurance policy for a period of 30 days.
Within this 30 days, you will need to pay the annual premium or a pro-rata portion. Once the premium is paid, you will be covered until 30th April, when the insurance policy will require renewal for another year.
If you are under the age of 60, you do not need to complete any forms for the VIPA Loss of Licence policy. If you are between 60 and 65 years of age, you can still be covered after the insurer accepts your application, which will include a health questionnaire.
The annual premium payment is fully reimbursable by Virgin Australia.
Existing VIPA Members
If you already have the VIPA Loss of Licence policy, coverage will extend until 30th April each year. During the month of April, you will be sent a renewal payment form. You will need to forward the payment to continue coverage for another year.
The due date for renewals of VIPA Loss of Licence policy is usually 30th May each year (subject to slight variation). Payment will be required by this date or a health questionnaire will need to be submitted to apply for coverage. The questionnaire will be assessed by the underwriter and, once accepted and payment has been made, coverage will be in place.
If you are already a member of VIPA but do not have the VIPA LoL coverage and wish to take it out, you will need to send an email to secretary@vipa.asn.au. You will be emailed the health questionnaire and payment form. The health questionnaire will need to be completed and forwarded with the payment. The questionnaire will be assessed by the underwriter and, once accepted and payment has been made, coverage will be in place.
