Q1.  Who runs VIPA?

A.  VIPA is run by a Committee of Management elected by VIPA members through elections conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission. A President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer make up the Executive, and are supported by the remainder of the Committee.

Q2.  Why do we need VIPA? Won't it be just like any other pilot association?

A.  VIPA is an association run by Virgin pilots for Virgin pilots. We believe an association focused on the unique needs of our pilots will address the issues faced by the pilot group more effectively. We do not represent any other pilots so all resources and focus goes to Virgin Group pilots.

Q3.  How does VIPA gain member input about issues?

A.  Since registration, VIPA has completed dozens of member surveys to determine members' views on matters affecting their employment and welfare. Surveys about EBA priorities, pilot engagement, remuneration, to name just a few, have been completed.

Q4.  Does VIPA have a full time office and staff?

A.  Yes, VIPA has office staff to direct your queries to the correct area. We also have an office in Sydney close to Sydney airport.

Q5.  How much are the annual fees?

A.  Membership fees are levied at 0.8% plus GST, of a pilots base salary. Fees may be paid annually or quarterly. If paying by direct debit, they can be Yearly, Quarterly or Monthly.

Q6.  Does VIPA offer Loss of Licence insurance?

A.  VIPA has put together a competitive Loss of Licence policy exclusively for VIPA members. For more information, refer to the VIPA Loss of Licence page on this website.
